There are seven verses in the book of proverbs that start with, “The fear of the LORD”. The Holy spirit has put it in my heart to write a prayer using elements of all seven verses when I pray for wisdom:
The beginning of knowledge:
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth:
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
The beginning of wisdom:
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Prolongs days:
Proverbs 10:27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Fountain of life:
Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
The instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility:
Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
Tends to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil:
Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
Dear LORD, we come to You with honor and reverence for your Holy name. We ask that you drive evil, pride, arrogance, deceit and hostility far from us and give us the knowledge of the holy. Thank you LORD Jesus for shedding your blood and dieing on the cross so that we may have life more abundantly. Please LORD; pour out Your Holy wisdom on us so that we have a fountain of life. We pray that you send us Your Holy Spirit to teach us and instruct us on what to say and how to do your will as we tend to our everyday life. We humble ourselves as we pray these things, in Jesus name. Amen.
