Proverbs 25:1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
| Ecclesiastes 12:9 | And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. |
Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

The Greek word for “a thing” and “matter” also stands for God’s word.
| John 5:39 | Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. |
God rewards those who seek him out:
| James 4:8 | Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. |
And he punishes those who know him, but turn their backs on him:
| Romans 1:18 | For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; |
| Romans 1:19 | Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. |
| Romans 1:20 | For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: |

Proverbs 25:3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.

| Romans 11:34 | For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? |

| Romans 11:36 | For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. |
Proverbs 25:4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
“Dross” is used eight times in scripture.
“Silver” is used twelve times in the book of Proverbs.
Proverbs 25:5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.

Proverbs 25:6 Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
Proverbs 25:7 For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.

Proverbs 25:8 Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.

| Luke 14:29 | Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, |

| Luke 14:31 | Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? |
| Luke 14:32 | Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. |
| Luke 14:33 | So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. |
Proverbs 25:9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:
Proverbs 25:10 Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.
| Matthew 5:25 | Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. |

Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

Proverbs 25:12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
| Colossians 4:6 | Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. |
Proverbs 25:13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
Proverbs 25:14 Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.

| II Peter 2:6 | And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; |
| II Peter 2:7 | And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: |
| II Peter 2:8 | (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) |
| II Peter 2:9 | The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: |
| II Peter 2:10 | But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. |
| II Peter 2:11 | Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. |
| II Peter 2:12 | But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; |
| II Peter 2:13 | And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; |
| II Peter 2:14 | Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: |
| II Peter 2:15 | Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; |
| II Peter 2:16 | But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet. |
| II Peter 2:17 | These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. |
| II Peter 2:18 | For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. |
| II Peter 2:19 | While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. |
| II Peter 2:20 | For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. |
| II Peter 2:21 | For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. |
| II Peter 2:22 | But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. |
| Jude 1:4 | For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| Jude 1:5 | I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. |

| Jude 1:7 | Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. |
| Jude 1:8 | Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. |
| Jude 1:9 | Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. |
| Jude 1:10 | But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. |
| Jude 1:11 | Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. |
| Jude 1:12 | These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; |
| Jude 1:13 | Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. |
Proverbs 25:15 By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
Proverbs 25:16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
In the Old Testament, honey illustrates natural sweetness. But don’t overdo it.

| Luke 18:10 | Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. |
| Luke 18:11 | The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. |
| Luke 18:12 | I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. |
| Luke 18:13 | And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. |
| Luke 18:14 | I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. |
Proverbs 25:17 Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour’s house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
Be careful not to wear out your welcome:

Proverbs 25:18 A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

Proverbs 25:19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

Proverbs 25:20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.

Proverbs 25:21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

Proverbs 25:26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
The corruption of not speaking up when we should. The only thing required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
| Ephesians 5:11 | And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. |
| Ephesians 5:12 | For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. |

Proverbs 25:27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
